ACLS for Heathcare Providers
New AHA 2010ECC Guidelines (Rev. 9/2011)
Course Description
The American Heart Association's Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider course is totally
redesigned for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether
in or out of hospital. Through the American Heart Association ACLS course, providers will enhance their
skills in:
• Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting
the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions,
use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
• Airway management
• Related pharmacology
• Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
• Effective communication as a member and leader of a
resuscitation team
• Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics
Course Length:
Initial: 10-12 hours approx., including breaks (Must bring or purchase ECC2010 book)
Re-Cert/ Skills Part 2: 5-6 hours Approx. (Must bring or purchase ECC2010 book)
Class Time includes time for extra practice/remediation if necessary
Intended Audience:
The course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians,
paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular
emergency.
